There is a large beaver pond 250m SSW from plot. There is a drier Hypericum densiflorum community 50m E of plot. 100m NNE of the plot is a Carex utriculata clone (CASP.20). The community is surrounded by Canaan Valley State Park so the only threats are deer herbivory and hikers.;Relatively undisturbed. Some game trails (beaver/deer?) in the "hollow". Early successional. Beaver keep the area flooded preventing the forest from encroaching. Pronounced Polyrichum hummocks with sedges, herbs and low shrubs above Sphagnum hollows.
Representativeness
Large stand that is probably a good representative of this type.
